COMPLETE 13,000 KM SEA CABLE SYSTEM (SEACOM) MARINE SURVEY

So, from having no cables at all on the East coast of Africa, it looks like
we (might) have: [Planned / actual capacity and operational date in
    (brackets)] -

1 EASSy - perhaps renamed to "NEPAD ICT Broadband Infrastructure
Network for Eastern and Southern Africa" (NBIN), or words to that effect
    (320 Gbps - 2008)
    2 TEAMS (? - 2008/2010?)
    3 SEACOM (1,280 Gbps - 2009)
    4 Flag Telecom (?)

On the West coast, we have: -

    1 SAT2 (560 Mbps - 1993)
    2 SAT3/WASC/SAFE (120 Gbps - 2001)
    3 Glo-1 (320 Gbps - 2009)

It seems that people are finally sitting up and taking notice of the need -
and commercial demand - for international IP connectivity in Africa.
